Leadership in Australasian Sport
Raelene Castle is the current CEO of the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs and was the first female CEO in the National Rugby League, appointed in 2013.
Raelene was headhunted by the Bulldogs straight from her six-year tenure as CEO of Netball New Zealand and the Silver Ferns.
Raelene also held the role of Director of the International Netball Federation, based in the UK, from 2011 to 2015.
Born in Wagga Wagga, Raelene returned with her family to New Zealand at a very early age and always had a strong affiliation with sport, representing Auckland in netball and tennis.
Raelene completed a degree majoring in marketing and production operations management and launched her corporate career as a marketing and communications executive with Fuji Xerox NZ, moving into increasingly more senior roles including head of Business Marketing for Telecom NZ. She was appointed as CEO of Netball New Zealand in 2007.
Raelene was recognised with a Sir Peter Blake Emerging Leader Award in 2011 and was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) in 2015.
Raelene is eminently qualified to speak on the topic on leadership in sport on both sides of the Tasman and we look forward to her insights.
