In partnership with The Disability Trust, we are thrilled to invite you to join us for our October dinner where we will hear from one of Australia's most recognised Paraolympians Dylan Alcott OAM. In 2016 Dylan was awarded Paralympian of the Year, the Newcombe Medal (the first wheelchair athlete to win the highest individual award in Australian tennis history) and GQ Sportsman of the Year. Dylan was a Gold medal winner of both the wheelchair singles and doubles tennis at the 2016 Rio Paralympics and won a basketball gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic games.
Dylan was nominated as Young Australian of the Year 2017, in that year he also established the Dylan Alcott Foundation in 2017 "with the core purpose of helping young Australians with disabilities gain self-esteem and respect through sport and study’’. The following year he released his biography 'Able'.
Dylan is ranked 1 in the world as a quad competitor in wheelchair tennis and has won nine grand slam titles. This year he was the winner of the 2019 Australian Open quad wheelchair title for the fifth year running. This year Dylan also launched his ‘Remove the Barriers’ campaign encouraging employers to break down the barriers to fair employment opportunities. Dylan is a regular broadcaster on radio station Triple J, and the ABC live music show The Set, as well as being a commentator for the 2019 Australian Open and a member of the panel on the AFL Footy Show.
