July Dinner Meeting- Updated
|Date:||Tuesday, 21 July 2020|
|Venue:||Novotel Northbeach Wollongong|
Dear Valued Members,
Please note changes affecting our upcoming Dinner Meeting on the 28th July, 2020.
With Victoria now back in lockdown due to the outbreak of COVID 19 cases and the NSW/VIC border closure, Dilruk Jayasinha unfortunately is no longer able to join us. However, at such short notice, I am happy to announce that Merrick Watts will be our Guest Speaker for the evening instead. Merrick is Sydney based, and so we have confidence that he will attend.
As one half of Merrick and Rosso, Merrick Watts took Triple J drive to ratings highs, was the first voice on the NOVA network and built a cult TV fan base with shows on Nine, Ten and the Comedy Channel. As a solo performer, Merrick has carved out a new course: as an actor on The Hollowmen and Underbelly; and as a comedian, touring a solo show for the first time in 2017 with Man of the House and performing on TV shows such as Thank God You’re Here, The Project, and Hughesy We Have a Problem. He’s also been performing regularly as a panellist on Network Ten’s Studio 10.
Still a regular on radio, Merrick recently had his own drive show on Triple M Sydney throughout 2017 and he can now be heard regularly on a variety of stations across the country including regular appearances on 2GB.
Merrick started a series of stand up gigs called Grapes of Mirth in 2018 which tour a range of his stand-up comedian mates to wineries around the country for acclaimed sell out shows. He is the co-writer of Delicious Magazine’s Column The Critic and The Comic with Mike Bennie and is a regular contributor for Escape Magazine. There are over 24 million people in this country and you’d be hard-pressed to find one that doesn’t know this radio veteran’s name.
Also, thank you to those of you who have contacted us enquiring about social distancing measures taken to ensure the health and safety of our guests on the evening. In collaboration with Novotel, it has been decided the following will occur on the evening:
- Pre -Function drinks will not take place in the gallery. Drinks will be served in the Kembla Room and limited to 40 people at a time.
- For our sit -down dinner, the Ballroom is limited to a maximum of 130 people with 5 seated per table, to comply with the 4 sq mtr ,social distancing rules. We also have the Norfolk Room for an additional 40 people. The Norfolk room will be set up with streaming technology from the Ballroom.
- We request that any member who is experiencing any COVID 19 or cold/flu symptoms to not attend the evening.
As you may have heard today, the NSW Premier advised there may be some amendments to NSW health orders, affecting gatherings. These may be announced in coming days. We will keep you informed and ensure that we comply with any changes that the Premier announces. We will also continue to monitor the situation and communicate any further changes to you in a timely manner.
We look forward to connecting with you in a healthy and safe manner.
